Ruth Baxter

Life Legacy

Ruth Baxter, of Fayetteville, GA, formerly of Cherryville, NC, passed away on March 4, 2013 at the age of 90. Ruth was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was devoted to her Church and her faith. She was a long time faithful member of the McDonough Road Baptist Church. Ruth held a true love for nature. She was an avid gardener and mostly enjoyed feeding and watching her hummingbirds. She had a strong will and would “never say never” or say “quit”. She enjoyed traveling and taking care of others. Ruth was an amazing cook with a flair for “country cooking”. She was known for her country fried steak, her biscuits and gravy, and pound cakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Leon Baxter, Sr., daughter Sue Hill and great-grandson Alex Steven Baxter. Ruth is survived by her sons Reverend Leon Baxter and wife Cindy of Stockbridge, Steve Baxter and wife Shawnee of Fayetteville; daughter Leann Hall and husband Brian of Tyrone; son-in-law Tom Hill of Tyrone; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 2:00PM at the McDonough Road Baptist Church. The Reverend Dr. David Chancey and Reverend Leon Baxter will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00PM at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, those who prefer may make memorial donations in Ruth’s honor to McDonough Road Baptist Church, 352 McDonough Road, Fayetteville, GA 30214.
