Biography
Dr. Helen Fletcher Sams, of Fayetteville, died February 23, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 ˝ years, Dr. Ferrol “Sambo” Sams, Jr. and grandchildren Jennifer Sams and Joseph Sams. She is survived by her four children Dr. Ferrol & Kathy Sams, III; Ellen & Luke Nichols; Dr. Jim & Marie Sams; and Honorable Fletcher & Dana Sams, all of Fayetteville; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Max Fletcher of Greensboro, FL; Dr. T.B. Fletcher and Dr. John Fletcher, both of Tallahassee, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. She will lie in state from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Rev. Mark Westmoreland and Dr. Sam Matthews will officiate. A private burial will be held later. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
