Obituary for Robert "Jerry" Gerald Scraggs

Robert Gerald “Jerry” Scraggs, 78, of Hampton passed away on June 20, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Atlanta, GA on August 14, 1938 to the late Robert and Sara Scraggs. He was a 1956 graduate of Russell High School and a salesman in the food service industry for over 35 years. Jerry loved the Lord and was a former member of East Point Church of Christ and a current member of Jonesboro Church of Christ. He was an avid bass fisherman and a devoted Georgia Bulldog fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Joan Scraggs and his parents. He is survived by his son Greg Scraggs (Alicia); brother Joe Scraggs (Dottie); sister Nancy Browne; brother Paul McDaniel (Kay); sister-in-law Irene Ferrell, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 25, 2017 in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Ron Edwards and Rob Browne will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 PM Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the funeral home.

Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
