Obituary for Phyllis JoAnne Davis

Mrs. Henry A. Davis (Phyllis) passed away peacefully on December 24, 2017. Phyllis Joanne Hudson was born in Illinois, March 10, 1928, to Henry and Roma Hudson. At birth she weighed approximately two pounds and was not expected to live. After the doctors had given her parents no hope, she was brought home in a shoebox. Phyllis survived, defeating all odds. She grew up in the Midwest area. She then moved to the south, where she went to Jacksonville State University and graduated from the University of Alabama. Phyllis was an excellent student and became one of the first women in many clubs and activities, along with being first chair violin in the college orchestra. Here she met and married Henry Davis. Phyllis taught school in Alabama and Georgia, afterward becoming involved in community and church service.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Roma Dubac and husband John; granddaughter, Melissa Evans and great-grandson, Gavin Evans; grandson, John Davis Dubac and wife Ladson, great-granddaughters Brooks and Colwyn Dubac.

A visitation will take place at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home in Fayetteville, on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. A private burial will be held at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker, GA.
