Obituary for Patricia Murphy Vereen

Mrs. Patricia Murphy Vereen, age 75, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away January 26, surrounded by family.

She was born May 31, 1943, in Fayetteville, Georgia, a daughter of the late Wesley and Betty Haltiwanger Murphy and granddaughter of the late B.D. (Burkett Dean), Sr. and Louise Culpepper Murphy of Fayetteville.

Pat is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth Frazier Vereen of High Point, North Carolina, her sister, Susannah Murphy Wolford (Ray) of Jacksonville, Florida, two daughters and sons-in-law, Louise Arp Popham (Patrick) of Rome, and Kate Arp Crawford (Mike) of Sharpsburg.

She was a loving grandmother to John Patrick Popham (Morgan) and Joel Stephan Popham of Rome, sisters Emily Dean Daniel, Mary Katherine Daniel, and Sarah Ann Matthews, of Sharpsburg, and great-grandmother to Lillian Faye Popham, of Rome. She leaves many other family members and friends who will greatly miss her.

Pat was a discerning woman, who instinctively saw the value and truth in all things. An excellent cook and accomplished gardener, she had a natural talent for interior design and enjoyed relaxing with her husband, family, and friends at Wynn’s Pond, in Peachtree City.

A private family memorial service will be held and she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved grandparents in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, her family is asking that donations be sent to the Newnan-Coweta Angel’s House, PO Box 657 | Newnan, GA 30264, a charity she often supported for many years.
