Obituary for Lucille Jackson Adams

Lucille Jackson Adams died on Friday, May 5, 2017 at her home in Fayetteville, Georgia at the age of 90. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Family was very important to Lucille and she enjoyed being around family. Her father and his two brothers married her mother and her two sisters making strong family connections. After marrying Ray Adams on February 11, 1946 and being an only child, she embraced the addition of her new family members.

Mrs. Adams worked as a secretary in the banking industry for many years, before becoming a full time wife and mother. After a number of years in Thomaston, Georgia, they moved and settled in Cartersville, Georgia, in 1960. There they were active in the community and raising their daughter, Allison. Her husband, Ray, died in 1971 at the age of 47, and she resumed her career in secretarial work. She and her daughter, Allison, moved back to Thomaston in 1976, due to Allison’s working with the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes in Meansville, Georgia. Lucille began managing the Housing Authority for the Elderly in Thomaston, Georgia. She retired in 1980 to care for her granddaughter when she was born. Lucille also enjoyed helping her daughter, Allison, with various projects at Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes. She was known for making biscuits along with other delicious dishes for various groups to enjoy. In 1988, when the family moved to Palmetto, Georgia due to job transfers, Mrs. Adams followed and in 1991, the family eventually settled in Fayetteville, Georgia in 1991.

A member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents Henry Edgar Jackson and Frances Miranda Loggins Jackson, and her husband, Ray Adams.
