Obituary for Larry Lewis Smith

Larry Lewis Smith, 68, of Fayetteville passed away at home on Thursday, April 12, 2018. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on May 28, 1949 to Nolan and Mickey Anglin Smith. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Rip Cord, fighting on the front lines. Larry was an expert woodworker, known for fixing anything and for his perfection. He loved “oldies” music, loved life, never met a stranger, and served as a role model for many. Throughout his life, his greatest love was his family.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Nolan L. Smith, and his sister, Connie Brown. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elaine G. Smith; his daughter, Jennifer Lynn and Eric Burch; his son, Adam and Marsha Smith; his grandchildren, Bryson, Carson, Sophie and Mila; his mother, Micki Smith Lyle; and his brothers, Donnie and Pat Smith, and Terry Smith.

The funeral service will be on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family loving requests donations in Larry’s memory to Wounded Warriors Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/, Healing 4 Heroes, http://www.healing4heroes.org/, or American Cancer Society, https://www.cancer.org/.
