Obituary for Julius Alton Graves

Julius Alton Graves, 93, of Fayetteville passed away on November 8, 2017. He was born on December 22, 1923 in Fayetteville, GA to Judge Julius and Myrtie Byrd Graves. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Julius was a lifetime member of New Hope Baptist Church. During his entire life, his family and home were the most important parts of his life. After retiring from the Atlanta Army Depot, Ft. Gilliam, he worked for his brother, Joe Graves, at Graves Auto Salvage (The Junk Yard), and his cousin, James Graves, at his Amoco Service Station.

Julius was preceded in death by his first wife in 1978, Billie Corley Graves; his second wife in 2007, Louise Karol Graves; his sister, Lela Mae Peek; and his brother, Joe Graves. He is survived by his son, Darryl Graves (Heidi); his daughters, Judi Graves Knowles (Hugh) and Sandi Graves Rivers (Dave); his stepchildren, Pat Karol (Nancy), Matt Karol, and Jimmy Karol (Jamie); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Julius will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 10, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church, North Campus, Fayetteville, GA, with Pastor Hugh Kirby officiating. Burial will follow the service at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
