Obituary for Jerene Bonner Wakeman

Jerene Bonner Wakeman, 77, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. She was born on August 11, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia to James Bennett and Kathleen Bonner. She worked for the State of Georgia, Department of Revenue for 44 years in the Income Tax Division and had the privilege of serving as Taxpayer’s Advocate with the Commissioner’s Office.

Jerene was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Alan Wakeman; her daughters, Karon (Scott) Power and Kimberly Peacock; her step-children, Jane and Simon Wakeman; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Rebekah) Walton, Matthew (Ginny) Power and Phillip (Jena) Power; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kailey and Tanner Walton, Shelby, Sadie, Halle and Tripp Power; her sisters, Dianne Mulkey and Susan Dickson; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 1014 New Hope Road, Hampton, GA 30288, with Rev. Erik Mays officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jerene’s memory to New Hope United Methodist Church at the above address. Any floral arrangements should be delivered directly to the church.
