Obituary for James Loughman

James Loughman, 85, of Riverdale, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018. James was born in 1932 in Boston, MA. His childhood and early years were spent in Wakefield, MA. James served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954, married Ellie in 1957 and started his career with Eastern Airlines. He retired from Eastern Airlines in 1987 after 30 years of service. After retiring from Eastern Airlines, James started his second career remodeling homes and was deemed a “master craftsman” by all who enjoyed his work. James loved cooking for everyone, baseball (in the Air Force, he pitched on a traveling team that traveled to many countries), was a faithful Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed crossword puzzles and bowling. His favorite meal was pizza and a Budweiser.

James is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Eleanor “Ellie” Connell Loughman; daughters, Diane Pealor and husband Michael, Karen Smith and husband Samuel, Cindy Adamson and husband Joseph, Elaine Warren and husband Dixie; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4:00-5:00 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home in Fayetteville, GA. Interment will be held at a future date at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
