Obituary for James Evans Williams

James Evans Williams, 87, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in Peachtree City GA.
Jim was born on March 11th, 1931 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Kenneth L Williams and Mary Frances Williams.Jim graduated from Sylacauga High School in 1949.He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.Jim graduated from Auburn University where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity and served as the business manager for the Auburn Glomerata. Jim served honorably as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army while stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict.He and his beloved wife, Doris were married 45 years before she passed in 1999.

Known for his kind demeanor and corny (often inappropriate) jokes,Jim loved spending extended holidays with grandchildren & great-grandchildren in Hilton Head SC, where is daughter lives. Jim lived in the Northlake/Emory area of Atlanta for over 50 years and built a successful career as a CPA, where he practiced until he was 80 years old.

Jim is survived by his 2 children, Julie (Tom) Jilly and Michael (Ashley) Williams;5 grandchildren,Courtney (Jason) Boryk, Shannon (Will) Eagan, Caitlin Jilly, Emma Williams and Lyda Grace Williams; 3 great -grandchildren,Caleb Boryk, Katherine Boryk, and MacKenzie Boryk.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Luther & Frellie Williams of Sylacauga; parents, Kenneth L and Mary Frances Williams of Sylacauga;his wife, Doris Ray Williams, and one son Kenneth R Williams.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Heritage of Peachtree located at 1967 Highway 54 W,Peachtree City, GA 30269, on Thursday June 28th at 2pm.
His ashes will be laid to rest on Friday, June 29th at 9am in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga Alabama . In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Community Foundation of the Lowcountry in the name of James E Williams,www.cf-lowcountry.org.
