Obituary for Donald Joseph Cavanaugh

Don Cavanaugh, age 81, passed away on April 19, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole, his children D. J. (Tanya) Cavanaugh, Steve Cavanaugh, and Cathy (Larry) Heider; loving grandkids, Sarah (Jonathan) Snyder, Joseph, Margaret, Lynee, and Allie Cavanaugh; great-grandson, William Hunt Snyder. He also has a brother, sister, and nephews living in Ohio. Don was the best husband, father, and granddad and will be sorely missed by his family.

Don served in the U.S. Army and was employed by Delta Air Lines in 1959 in Columbus, Ohio. He retired from Delta after 32 years in Atlanta. He then started a new career with Prime Engineering in downtown Atlanta and worked happily with them for another 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 57 in Newnan, GA.

Don had a passion for life and, because he and Carole were both employed by Delta Air Lines, the family traveled extensively to places around the world. He and the family were square dancers, scuba divers, boaters, water skiers, and owned horses for a time, all to spend quality time with the children.

He will be truly missed, but is now in a better place. There will be no service in Georgia, however there will be a celebration of life service for his family in Don’s home town of Lancaster, Ohio some time in the future.
