Obituary for Clarence McPherson Bruce, Jr.

On Wednesday, October 3, 2018, Clarence McPherson Bruce, Jr., who was lovingly known as “JoJo”, passed away at the age of 76. He was born on May 25, 1942 in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Clarence McPherson Bruce, Sr. and the late Mary Edna Collier Bruce. JoJo was the sixth born of the seven Bruce children, which included the late Bettye (Milton) Whigham, the late Ray (Gloria) Bruce, the late Doris (Talmadge) Whigham, the late Jimmy Bruce, the late Margret Mullis, and Harry Bruce.

After high school, JoJo served in the U.S. Navy where he began his love of travel and played on the Navy Softball team. In 1966, he was employed by Delta Air Lines where he continued to travel the world. While at Delta, he played on several company softball teams and discovered his passion for golf. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, his laughter, his love of Florida State University Football and his love of his huge family.

JoJo is survived by his two daughters, Mendy (Scott) Crump and Kim (David) Moser; his grandchildren, Zach and Zoe Moser; his step-granddaughter, Randi Crump; his ex-wife Marjorie (Larry) Lance; his brother, Harry Bruce; ten nieces and nephews, Rodney, Mike, and Greg Whigham (Bettye), Mark and Steven Bruce (Ray), the late Debra Whigham (Doris), Chris Bruce (Jimmy), Deann and Wendy (Margret), Adam and Cindy (Harry); 21 great nieces and nephews, Andrew, Brittany, and Brandon Bruce (Mark Bruce), Stephanie, Kim, and Jason (Doris), Kristie and Tony Bruce (Chris Bruce), Kayla and Daniel (Margret), Lindsey, Chandler, Lawson, Lucas, Broden, Cruiz, and Raelyn Grace, Joey, Kara, Arribella, Tripp (Harry); and 10 great-great nieces and nephews: Jackson, Ella, Kensley, Taylor (Stephanie), Alex and Dakota (Kim), Payton, Aiden, Evan, Khole (Kristie).

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, October 5, 2018 in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, GA, with Dr. J. W. Wallis officiating. Burial will follow the service at South View Cemetery in Thomaston, GA. The family will greet friends from 10:00-11:45 AM at the funeral home prior to the service.
