Obituary for Bryan Kermit Schock

Bryan Kermit Schock, age 44, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2018 at Piedmont Atlanta
Hospital. He was born on November 15, 1973 in Hibbing, Minnesota to Oscar and Susan
Schock. Survivors include his wife, Julie McRae Schock; daughter, Avery Elizabeth Schock;
parents, Oscar and Susan Schock; sister, Heidi (Detlef) Reineke; brother, Corey
(Rebecca) Schock; nephews, Ethan and Christian Schock; and many extended family members from both families.

Bryan was a gentle giant with a zest for life. He loved his family, the Lord and his work. He had a kind soul who never met a stranger. Bryan loved serving others. As an Eagle Scout, he mentored other Young Men, helping them set and achieve their goals. He always loved to share his vast knowledge of everything from airplanes, airlines, airports to maps! If you had a willing ear he’d talk it off! He was proud of his Northern Minnesota roots and shared that love of his home with others. He played many sports growing up and loved playing the trombone in Marching Band. Hibbing holds a special place in his heart!

From an early age, Bryan was passionate about aviation. Delta Air Lines allowed him to live that passion for 23 years, the last 13 were spent in his dream job as a Flight Superintendent. He truly loved being a Dispatcher and was blessed with a work family as large and as strong as his home family. He formed many lifetime relationships which will continue beyond the here and now. He worked as hard as he played, taking his family on many adventures around the world. He especially loved his father-daughter trips with just his Avery. She was his Biggest and most Favorite adventure in life.

He came into this world with a weak physical body. He courageously overcame illness and setbacks, each of which strengthened his Faith and his Spirit. Our lives have been truly blessed through his everyday example. Bryan taught us to love deeper, radiate kindness, and never give up hope. He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, always desiring to serve the Lord. How joyous the reunion must have been with his Savior! He knew how much he was loved by all; Bryan is our sweet Guardian Angel.

His sister, Heidi, said it best; “He boarded a 747 bound for Heaven.” We all get a smile knowing he would love that!
