Beverly Teat Carter, 87, of Peachtree City passed away on April 9, 2018. Born in Birmingham, AL, Beverly was a true Southern lady. Known for the delightful way she said “Sugah” and “Dahlin,” she could hold an entire room in her thrall, while telling stories or jokes.
Her family settled in Athens, GA during the early years of her life, and always claimed it as home. She graduated from Athens High School and attended the University of Georgia.
Beverly met her beloved “Chollie,” while singing in the church choir at Athens First United Methodist Church. They married soon after he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army, before he left to serve in Korea.
Charles Henry Carter died in 2009, after they had celebrated 57 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her son, Chuck, in 2015. Beverly is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Kurt) Reichle and Patty Carter (Ed) Richardson; daughter-in-law, Susan Chatoney Carter; grandchildren, Lindsay Richardson (Christian) Alvarez, Carter Richard (Paige Manieri), and Nick Black.
Beverly enjoyed a rich and wonderful life, travelling the world as an Army wife and then roaming the U.S. in a motor coach during her later years. She was much loved by all who knew her, and she will remain forever in our hearts.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City, on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, at Arbor Terrace.
