Obituary for Betty Parker Stewart

Mrs. Betty P. Stewart of Tucker, Georgia, died on April 26, 2018. Born on May 18, 1929 and christened as Elizabeth Mae Parker, she was later known as “Betty”. Betty P. Stewart was born in Tallapoosa, Alabama, the daughter of John Marvin Parker and Alma Mae Parker. She graduated from Reeltown High School, Alabama in May 1947.

Betty Stewart was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother of three children, and caregiver to her own mother for twenty years. When the children grew older, she worked as a secretary at Tucker First Baptist Church, where she was also a member for 45 years. Before moving to Fayetteville, Georgia, they had resided in Tucker, Georgia for 46 years.

Betty was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Smith Wilder. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Richard Frank Stewart. They were married on May 26, 1947. Others include her three children and their spouses, daughter, Susan and Dennis Duke of Fayetteville; sons, Rick and Jan Stewart of Hendersonville, NC and Jimmy and Kathryn Stewart of Anchorage, Alaska. Surviving grandchildren include; Matthew and Chelsea Duke, Andrea Duke, Scott and Katie Stewart, Alex Stewart, Justin and Jasmine Stewart, Steven and Anna Stewart, and Katelyn and Kendon Hughes; also several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Reverend Jack Miller officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
