Obituary for Aramis Alvarez

Aramis Alvarez began his adventure on Earth in 1964 in Havana, Cuba. A few years later, his parents, Felipe and Maida, made a courageous move to Spain with Aramis, his brother Ariel and sister Ardy. In Spain, his brother Arlo was born. From Spain, the adventure continued when the family moved to Atlanta in 1973 and soon celebrated the birth of Alain.

Aramis married his high school sweetheart, Alicia Samples Alvarez, soon after he graduated from Georgia State University. They became parents of son Aren and daughter Alex, who were born in Georgia. The Alvarez family grew with the happy arrival of daughter Abigail and son Andrew who were born in Honduras.

Throughout his life, Aramis’ hands were never idle, his mind was unceasingly creative, and his heart was always full. His energy, drive, and compassion touched the lives of thousands of people all around the world. Family, friends, and the church were just the beginning. His life of service was often directed to people he didn’t know and whose gratitude he never expected. He leaves behind a legacy of beauty and love that is multiplied by the many whom he inspired to follow his example.

Aramis left us too soon. He died on December 29, 2017 in Fayetteville, GA. His parents, his wife and four children, his three brothers and sister are broken-hearted by his death and forever grateful for his life.

Aramis’ life will be celebrated at North Fayette United Methodist Church at 847 New Hope Road, Fayetteville, GA. Family and friends are invited to comfort each other from 1:00-3:00 PM at the church. Following visitation, the funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM. Friends and family will gather after the service for burial at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City, GA immediately following the service and then return to the church for food and fellowship.
