Richard Max Boyer, 70, of Fayetteville, died September 5, 2010 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born in West Chester, PA on December 9, 1939. Richard spent 3 years in the Navy and 32 years as an Air Traffic Controller. Richard had assignments in Massachusetts, Virginia, Georgia and Hawaii. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Louise Boyer and his sister Ruth Ann Jackson. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Carol Ellen Duncan Boyer; sons Gary (Robyn) Boyer of Fayetteville and Chris (Gloria) Boyer of Brooks; grandchildren Brett Boyer of Brooks and Lawson Boyer of Fayetteville; cousins Ted (Liz) Shumake of Sharpsburg and Nancy (Walter) Hurst of Millersville, PA; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Fayetteville Christian Church. A Receiving of Friends will take place prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 PM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fayette Samaritans, Southwest Christian Care Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Vincent James Friscia, 87, of Sharpsburg passed away September 6, 2010. Mr. Friscia served his country in the U.S.C.G.; he then went on to manage hotels from Hong Kong to the Bahamas. He was also an exceptional cook. Mr. Friscia was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia Mary Friscia.

Survivors include daughter Alison Friscia; grandchildren Michael and Victoria; sister Diania Camble, and also a niece & cousins.

Mrs. Eloise D. Bolan, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away on September 2, 2010. Mrs. Bolan was born September 1, 1922 and was the oldest of seventeen children. She is preceded in death by her husband WD Bolan, Sr. She is survived by her daughter Glenda Smith and her husband Phil of Fayetteville; sons Walter Harvey Ledford, Jr. and his wife Marcia of West Virginia and WD Bolan, Jr. and his wife Shannon of Florida; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor Todd Dionne officiating. Mrs. Bolan will lie in state one hour before the service. Sue Gilbert Quay, age 81, of Peachtree City, GA, died at Newnan Health and Rehabilitation Home in Newnan, GA on August 24, 2010 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. She was preceded in death by her mother, Stella Mae Gilbert, her father, Peter Reid Gilbert & her brother Arthur Gilbert. She is survived by her husband Henry C. Quay, sons Michael H. Quay of Pahoa, HI & J. Timothy Quay of Peachtree City, GA; brother E. Reid Gilbert of Tucson, AZ; sister Mary Evelyn (William) Gottenstrator of Walnut Cove, NC; sisters-in-law Bonnie Howie of Harrisburg, NC, Ann (Walter) Gardner of Hiltons, VA & numerous nieces & nephews. She was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School in Winston-Salem, NC and received her RN degree from Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Early in her nursing career she worked in hospitals, industry & physicians’ offices. Her favorite was the newborn nursery. After her sons were born, she became a full time stay at home mom involved in her sons’ various extracurricular activities. She went back to work as an industrial nurse in the 1980s. She was a great lover of music & the arts & an avid reader. She was an advocate for mental health & breast cancer survivors.
