Walter Bernice Ivey, 84, of Fayetteville, went home to God on March 1, 2010. He served 23 years in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of WWII and Korea and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Fayetteville. Mr. Ivey loved to travel and his greatest joy in life other than serving his Lord was spending time with his family and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Maudie W. Ivey; five children Joan Smith of Fayetteville, Walter Ivey of Melbourne, FL, Talitha Mosley of Vicksburg, MS, Althea Boothe of Lilburn, and Donna Casteel of Lilburn; three sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and two sisters. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Pastor Nesbit Odom officiating. Burial will take place on Friday at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with full military honors and a graveside service at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends Thursday from noon to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
