It was 1964 when C.J. & Faye Mowell decided to move to Fayetteville, GA, and Carl J Mowell & Son Funeral Home was established. The first year, we did two calls; we only did eleven the next year. They managed to raise four children, Becky, Beth, Ferrell , and David, upstairs, while maintaining the business downstairs. But through countless hours and the love and support of this community, they followed God's direction and built this business into what it is today. In 1979, we expanded to add more space and the chapel. This enabled us to broaden our services to families.
In the 80's, all the children graduated from Fayette County High School, and C.J. & Faye moved out of the funeral home in 1984. The business continued to grow as Fayette County's population soared. In 1985 we had over 100 services.
We took a step of faith in 1995 and built a second funeral home in Peachtree City. This branch gave us a new way to serve this ever-growing part of Fayette County. The relationships and trust that has been built there have helped us become a vital part of this community. We were able to serve over 325 families out of both locations in 1999.
In 2006 we took our biggest step of faith yet. Behind our existing chapel in Fayetteville, we built a new, more spacious funeral home to better meet the needs of each family we serve. This new 26,000+ sq ft. facility enables us to grow and meet the individual needs of each family in the future.
As we have grown and expanded over the last 45 years, our family has always given that "personal touch" to each service. As we look to the future and to our part of this community, again we are proud to know that our family will continue to serve your family.
